Our Story
Dewey's pizza was born in 1997 from founder Dewey's lifelong love of handcrafted, wood-fired pies. Growing up in a family that believed great food brought people together, Dewey spent years perfecting a dough recipe that balances a crisp, airy crust with rich, nuanced flavor — a signature that remains unchanged to this day.
What started as a small neighborhood pizzeria in Kirkwood, Missouri has grown into a beloved community institution. Every pie that leaves our kitchen is made with the same obsessive care and locally sourced ingredients that defined that very first batch in 1997.

Dewey opens a 12-seat pizzeria on Kirkwood Road with one wood-fired oven, two employees, and a handwritten menu. The first night sells out completely.
Growing demand leads to a full kitchen renovation and the introduction of our signature specialty pies, including the beloved "The Dewey" — roasted garlic, prosciutto, and arugula.
We formalize our commitment to local farms, launching partnerships with three Missouri producers for cheese, herbs, and seasonal vegetables — a standard we've maintained ever since.
